Touka Gettan 01v2 - Let's End This Again

Nobody likes to do v2s, but this one is for a good cause. If you've been watching the shoutbox lately, you know that Seto_Sun's been passing me better raws than the ones I originally had. And at the suggestion of an anon in the ep 01v1 comments, I made some changes to the OP translations. Honestly, they're probably still not perfect, due to my middling translation abilities. So I hope you'll allow me some artistic license as I tried to make them somewhat coherent in English. I didn't do a full watch of the v2; the timing seemed close enough that a little keyframe snapping should have brought things into line. If you spot any major errors, let me know and I'll go about learning how to create a v3 patch.

  1. A quick look does indicate that the new raws you have are considerably better looking. Well worth a v2.

Looking forward to more of this.

  2. Yumiko-san uses 3rd person speaking when she talks, doesn't she?

  3. True, she does. There are varying schools of thought when it comes to rendering as 3rd-person in subtitles vs. changing to "I." I'm not 100% as to which school I fall into. My vague plan is to use 3rd-person when she's acting overly cutesy, and 1st person at other times. Idk, do you think it's a key part of her character that should be preserved?

  4. @Zalis: I think that 3rd speaking makes she cute, it also reveals more about her character.
(Her story is so sad, being raped by her uncle T.T)

I do sort of agree, so you'll see that for episode 3, I do have her speaking in 3rd person a little more often. Maybe not every time, but enough to bring out that particular flavor. What about Makoto? She often speaks in 3rd person, but even Serin's literal-as-possible subs generally didn't reflect that, and I haven't seen complaints.

  6. @Zalis: I think that people don't care about Makoto as much as Yumiko. BTW, I love the fansubers who translate ecxactly what characters said. ^^
