To Heart ~RmM~ 13 - Don't you forget about me

Well, after 3/4 of a year of operation, I finally have my second "series" complete, or third if you count the Strawberry 100% TV series and OVAs separately. It's a suitably heartwarming, bittersweet, and most importantly, conclusive final episode, complete with not one but two time skips. Also, listen for a musical cameo of the OP from the 1999 To Heart series, "Feeling Heart." Despite the "meh-ness" of this series, I hope some of you out there have managed to enjoy it for the second or first time in better-than-TV quality, with I daresay better subs as well.

Although I used the non-specific "To Heart" label for these release posts, this may conclude my work with the To Heart franchise. Currently, my competitor/collaborator Kaishakunin over at Jumonji-Giri has announced plans to do the To Heart 2 TV series.

Touka Gettan 20 - Hybrid crops gone wrong

Here we are at Touka Gettan 20, where Touka first begins to learn some of the deeper secrets behind his past and of the existence of the Stone Sword. But the main adventure consists of the gang playing migrant laborers for a day and getting paid for their work in peaches. I'm not a dog person by any means, but there are some rather cute Canine!Momoka moments to be found.

Most of the TLC work went okay, although there were about a half-dozen lines that I couldn't quite nail down. The only truly noticeable error in QC was a line that started late due to, once again, alpha timing in the original subs.

To Heart ~RmM~ 12 - And the reason is you

Here I am once again, fighting back sickness, and coughing, hacking, and sniffling through the penultimate episode of To Heart ~Remember my Memories~. Multi goes missing, and it's up to almost everybody who's had any screen time in this show to find her. Along the way, Hiroyuki learns some startling truths about his and Multi's past. But that knowledge only gives him more determination to track down the fugitive Naru Narusegawa Minori Kushieda Tamami Chanohata Kotori Shirakawa Tohru Honda Ayu Tsukimiya Eri Sawachika Multi.

Touka Gettan 19 - All the World's a Stage

Well, I'm sure Ishihara and the Bill 156 backers would've had numerous problems with this episode, Touka Gettan's 19th and infmaous "play episode." Note how much of the voice acting in this episode is very hammy and exaggerated, much like Itsuki Koizumi in Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya "Episode 00". If you've been confused by Touka Gettan until now, ep 19 will reveal a lot of crucial backstory and character history. Ya know, much is made in the anime fandom about "wincest", big-brother adoration, the moe attributes of younger sisters, "imoutits," etc. But in contrast to the rather glorified sequences in earlier installments, this episode portrays incest as something disturbing, coercive, and shameful -- in other words a bit closer to reality.

And while I have to condemn Serin's increasing use of alpha-timing that left a few lines starting late in my test watch, I have to commend their masterful handling of the Touka/Momoka conversation after 19:30. There's barely anything I changed or would have changed in those lines.

To Heart ~RmM~ 11 - A New Year Dawns

First let me assure you all, it was totally part of my keikaku to release To Heart ~Remember my Memories~ 11 on 1-11-11. I certainly didn't get lazy or distracted by OCRing and converting Kimagure Orange Road subs, I can tell you that much. At any rate, we see another, more traditional love triangle developing in this episode, between Hiroyuki, Akari, and Masashi. Too bad Masashi doesn't know he's the best male friend of the main character of an H-game. But thankfully, he's not treated nearly as badly as others like Clannad's Youhei Sunohara or Kanon's Jun Kitagawa. Which is definitely a mark in To Heart's favor, despite the lack of 9001-hit combos.
